Question by needingajob: The NHL schedule which team is affected the most?
Many people agree the NHL schedule clearly favors the eastern conference because all of the teams are much closer to each other than in the western conference but which western conference team suffers the most? The wings are the only team in the western conference that play in the eastern time zone however the stars play 12 games in california (two time zones away) and not a single team in their division is in a connecting state or same time zone. Or is it a team from the northwest who is unable to beat up on the blackhawks and blue jackets and as such are unable to rack up the points? Any thoughts or opinions?
I was actually referring to the fact the new (post lockout) schedule system requires more division and conference games which requires more travel in the west than the east but thanks for the info about the devils start. Still looking for answers relating to the schedule system.
Quick notes about some of the answers: yes, the coyotes are a different time zone than Dallas, and Nashville is CST (part of the state is EST but the city of Nashville is not). And Bill I’m referring to the fact that the new schedule which forces much more division play and much more conference play forces teams that are spread out geographicly to spend more time traveling than others
